(October 25, 2020 Cincinnati, Ohio)- Headline: Winners Announced at the Frightfilm 2020 Competition
The winners of the second annual Frightfilm Competition were announced during the on-line awards ceremony hosted by Jeff Winkelman. The awards ceremony was held on Sunday October 25th at 5pm.
“Again this year the judges did an excellent job scoring the films. It's great when all of the judges score sheets come back with similar scores. Many of last year's judges participated in this year's competition." Said Frightfilm co-founder Bill Anderson. He went on to say, “Having to pick a single outstanding performance with so many fine films is not a task I would look forward to completing”.
Each year, filmmakers are required to incorporate three predetermined items in their films. This year the films needed to incorporate a flashlight as a hand prop, create a scene with a reflection shot and as always, a line of dialogue from a classic horror film.
Twenty one industry professionals served as judges in fourteen different categories.“In addition to presenting the Skelly award to the filmmakers in traditional categories, We were excited to add two new categories this year”. Jim Timmerman, co-founder went on to say, “We added a Special Effects and Poster category."
"The Skelly statuette is the award presented by Frightfilm for outstanding achievement in horror short film-making." Jeff Winkelman, co-founder summed up the event saying, “Everyone who help create a film should feel great about their Frightfilm picture. They created a thirteen minute horror film in less than two months. Even in the best of times that's a real challenge, To create a film during a worldwide pandemic, well, that's amazing. In addition to being true professionals they made sure their shooting locations were virus free."
