(October 24, 2021 Cincinnati, Ohio)- Headline: Winners Announced at the Frightfilm 2021 Competition The winners of the third annual Frightfilm Competition were announced Sunday October 24th at the Federal Warsaw Incline Theater during the awards ceremony. The event was hosted by Jeff Winkelman one of the founding partners. “Our judges had lots of challenges this year when scoring the films. Again this year they told us that the quality of the films was excellent. Said Frightfilm co-founder Bill Anderson. He went on to say, “In one of our categories the judges couldn’t and wouldn’t break a tie. We think that’s just great!”.
Each year, filmmakers are required to incorporate three predetermined items in their films. This year the films needed to incorporate jumper cables as a hand prop, a dramatic shadow shot and as always, a line of dialogue from a classic horror film.
Industry professionals served as judges in sixteen different categories. “In addition to the awards determined by our judges, our audience members chose two “Audience Favorites” who also received Skelly Awards." Jim Timmerman, co-founder went on to say, “The winner in the Group B category won by only one vote!”
The Skelly statuette is the award presented by Frightfilm Competition for outstanding achievement in horror short film-making. Jeff Winkelman, co-founder, summed up the event saying, “Again this year all our filmmakers where very creative and very safe. They created a thirteen minute horror film in less than two months and during a pandemic. Each of them should feel special for the accomplishment.“
