Thanks to all you, this is our seventh year! We couldn't have done it without you. We applaud you and all the hard work you and your team do in creating original short horror films. The film-making craft is alive and well in Frightfilm.
If you're a returning producer or a crew member who's stepping into the producer role(good for you!), scroll down to the 2025 Timeline section below.
If you're new to Frightfilm, welcome! Here's what you need to know in seven easy steps.
1. Talk to your creative friends and tell them this is a great opportunity to create something their future selves will appreciate. It will be a lot of fun too! Also remember your friends have creative friends who could be cast or crew.
2. Get them all to pitch in for the entry fee(125$ prior to June 30th and 150$ from July 1st to 27th.) OR you can cover the cost yourself. Each film(typically one producer) will get two free tickets to the Premiere and Awards Event. That's a 30$ savings!
3. Click here, fill out the entry form and pay the registration fee.
4. Hooray! You're now entered. Assemble your team in a video conference or at a local coffee shop or bar to determine who can handle what production tasks. Don't overload anyone with too many things: Director, Cinematography, Sound, Original Music, Editing, Casting for the various Acting roles, Makeup, Writing, etc.
5. Attend our online Zoom Kick-Off event on Sunday July 27th at 7pm.
You can have as many members of your team attend but we definitely need the producer to be there.
6. Produce a thirteen minute or less short horror film, poster and trailer in the next 59 days. Yeah, that's the hard part, but it's the fun part too.
7. Submit your film, poster, trailer and finish all your paperwork anytime before midnight on September 27, 2025. Then do your Happy Dance!
We'll announce of premiere and awards location once we know the number of films submitted. If you have a connection to a venue that has a good quality screen and sound system please let us know. We'd love to consider it.
We're shooting for the Frightfilm 2025 Premiere and Awards Gala to be held either October 25th or 26th.
We'd love to see the fun you have on location and in pre and post production. Post images on our Facebook page and/or send a download link to us in an email to info@frightfilmcompetition.com. We'd love to show them at the premiere during intermissions.
