Here are some the highlights from the Frightfilm Kick-Off.
The Prop is Poison. We're defining poison as a substance that can kill a human that is manipulated/handled/used by a character.
The Cinematic Element is a Silhouette Shot.
And of course include a line from a classic horror film.
NOTE: You must indicate the timecode where the elements appear in your film within your credits.
And the BIG news? We’ve made the release form process much easier. As you know all cast, crew, location owners and music performers & composers need to fill out a release form. The paperwork is gone.

Everything, EVERYTHING, needs to be submitted by midnight ET, September 27th. Remember that this means you can submit it early too.

Each team will get two free tickets to the Premiere and Awards Event, so be thinking about that as you finish the film.
We'll announce the premiere and awards location once we know the number of films submitted. If you have a connection to a venue that has a good quality screen and sound system please let us know. We'd love to consider it.
We're shooting for the Frightfilm 2025 Premiere and Awards Gala to be held either October 25th or 26th.
We'd love to see the fun you have on location and in pre and post production. Post images on our Facebook page and/or send a download link to us in an email to info@frightfilmcompetition.com. We'd love to show them at the premiere during intermissions.
Some teams are thinking about personalizing the FFC T-shirt with their film/name/or crew position so they can wear it on location. The Frightfilm Competition, LLC, is a time restricted short horror/scary film-making competition that recognizes excellence in 16 categories.
Awards will be presented to the Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Screenplay and many more!
The goal of this competition is to make just one type of film, SCARY!
All submitted films must fit in that genre. Mixed genres (Horror/scary, Horror/comedy, Scary/SCI-FI, etc) will be accepted. Films that do not fit in the scary genre will be disqualified from all awards, but will be shown at the screening event.
Early registration begins April 27th and continues until midnight June 30th.
Regular registration begins July 1st and continues until midnight July 27th.
Meet the other teams and get the competition's required elements in a Zoom meeting. We'll also answer any questions.
